We’d like to wish Olivia Hall a huge congratulations after she won £1,000 in our charity lottery last month (October 2021)! Olivia, from Birmingham, has been playing the lottery every month since February, as a way of saying thank you to our doctors and nurses for saving her son, Caleb’s, life.

When Caleb was just eight-weeks-old, he was rushed to our hospital where a bout of pneumonia left him in intensive care. Following this illness, our brilliant team of doctors and nurses were able to diagnose Caleb with a rare genetic condition called Chronic Granulomatous Disease which affects the immune system. After a stem cell transplant at a hospital in Newcastle when he was two-years-old, Caleb, who has just turned eight, is now thriving and living the normal life his parents always dreamed he would.

Olivia said We are forever indebted to the amazing staff at Birmingham Children’s Hospital for all they have done for Caleb and our family and playing the lottery is just our little way of saying thank you.’

Not only does Olivia support us by playing the lottery each week, she is also part of our regular giving family, and has made a regular donation to our charity every month since 2015. We are very grateful to Olivia and her family for their wonderful, continued support and we’re so pleased to be able to share the exciting news about their win.
