A group of nurseries with four branches across South Birmingham and the surrounding villages has hit the phenomenal milestone of having raised £40,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity after 32 years of fundraising.

Cotton Tails Day Nursery has four branches in Northfield, Quinton, Hagley and Rubery and every year they do a weeklong fundraising stint for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity to give back to the community. Over the years, they have had many kids through their doors who have received treatment, and as educators caring for young children themselves, the cause is naturally very close to their hearts.

Their most recent fundraising week involved a series of fetes held by the four nurseries. It featured individual stalls, arts and crafts as well as a BBQ. It was a day for the community – including pupils and their families - to come together. This event added £2,200 to their fundraising pot and helped tip them over the enormous £40,000 total.

Having fundraised for so many years, during their time as supporters Cotton Tails has been recognised as one of the charity’s 100 Heroes – an award presented annually to the charity’s top fundraisers. They also took part in the charity’s Big Hoot art trail in 2015 and even purchased one of the Doctor Who themed owls for £10,000, marking a huge donation.

Lisa Daniels, Nursery Manager at Cotton Tails Too in Rubery, said: “We love giving back to the hospital as we know how important its work is and how many children receive treatment every single year. Some of our donations have gone towards supporting play in the hospital, ensuring the patients have toys, arts and crafts to keep them entertained and distracted, which really helps the nurses and parents. We are just so proud of the money we have raised to date and hope to continue to raise so much more over the coming years.”

Miranda Williams, Head of Public Fundraising at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity says: “It is a privilege to have been supported by Cotton Tails for 32 years – they are one of our longest-standing partners. Their fundraising and donations over the years have supported so many children and help them have a sense of normality by having toys and crafts to play with whilst they are under our care. We can’t thank them enough!”
